Enrique Cerezo, Miguel Angel Gil and Carlos Aguilera acted as hosts for the meeting
After the arrival of the two players for the Chicago Fire, Jalil Anibaba and Austin Berry, a delegation from the American team also traveled to Madrid to see first hand the evolution of the U.S. player at Atletico Madrid B, and for a series of meetings with several leaders at Atletico, almost a year after the International Clubs Summit.
The CEO of Chicago Fire, Javier León, Director of Grassroots, Guillermo Petrei, coach Frank Klopas and his deputy, Michael Matkovic, began their intense work schedule going to the Majadahonda Sports City to see the training their players performed on Wednesday morning with Alfredo Santaelena’s team.
The American leaders were very satisfied with the work being done by their players and especially by the treatment given by Atletico Madrid, so appreciated the way Anibaba and Berry have been involved in the work with the second team and, at some times, with the first team, something of a unique opportunity in their career.
Many issues were discussed with the American representatives and rojiblancos managers who attended them on this first day, the exchange of opinions and views as always proved to be very productive for both sides.
In addition, the club arranged a special meeting between the leaders of the Chicago Fire and the coach of Muangthong United, Slanisa Jokanovic, who is in Madrid, spending his vacations after the completion of the League in Thailand. The opportunity was taken for the Serbian coach, who this year won the league championship in his first season in the Bangkok, meet his counterpart on the American team, and the leaders of Chicago Fire, strengthening relations between the two clubs that are strategic in the International Alliance.
From Thailand, the United Muanghtong executives were very pleased about this meeting held in Madrid, aware of the importance of promoting relations between the teams of the Alliance and its members, in order to identify opportunities for sporting and extra sports.
At lunch, during which Emilio Gutierrez, Director of Marketing, Corporate Communications and International Development, the Director of Grassroots, Carlos Aguilera, former teammate of Jokanovic in Tenerife and CEO, Miguel Angel Gil represented the three clubs.
The American managers attended the game that Atletico played against Real Jaen in the knockout round of the Copa del Rey, happy to be once again at the Vicente Calderon, in a season that see Atletico Madrid registering a great international exposure due to the successes achieved so far.
