Catania have parted company with coach Diego Simeone after just four months.
Simeone, who took over at the Serie A side in January following the sacking of Marco Giampaolo, had one year left on his contract.
But Catania, who ended the season 10 points clear of the relegation zone in 13th place, decided to terminate the former Argentina and Lazio midfielder's contract.
A statement from Catania read: "After four months of great work and having considered new professional possibilities, Catania club administrator Pietro Lo Monaco and coach Diego Pablo Simeone have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the coach's contract.
"The club wishes the coach and his staff all the best in the future."

Impressive
Simeone had an impressive run with Catania, suffering only two losses in their last 10 league games.
And the 41-year-old, who was unable to replicate his success at River Plate and Estudiantes, has now been linked with a move to coach in Spain's Primera Liga.
Simeone racked up a total of 106 caps during his playing career and at the time was the most capped player ever for Argentina. |
