Athletic Bilbao have climbed up to sixth in the Liga BBVA table thanks to goals from Javier Martinez and Iker Muniain in a 2-1 win over Racing Santander.

It was the home side who raced out of the blocks in the first ten minutes and opened up a two goal lead that was dually deserved. The second-half was evenly contested as both sides had a number of half chances. Racing began to play more directly as they hoped to get behind the Athletic defence. Markus Rosenberg succeeded by getting behind on the hour mark but was unable to finish as his effort was comprehensively blocked by on an onrushing Iraizoz in goal.

To the Cantabrian's credit they were seeing plenty more of the ball after the interval but with no real attacking emphasis in the final third with much of their play laboured in midfield. Los Leones looked comfortable and were happy to sit back on their two goal lead.

Racing did indeed pull a goal back through substitute Ivan Bolado who netted his first league goal of the season. Almost a carbon-copy of Athletic’s opening goal as Kennedy produced a magnificent ball from the left hand-side via the free-kick that eluded the men in red and white as Bolado lost his marker and headed home.

The goal gave Racing more impetus as they sought that elusive equaliser but the hosts held on and claimed an important victory. Incidentally striker Perdo Munitis was dismissed a minute from time after a clashing with David Lopez.

Philippe Coutinho is one of the latest footballing talents to emerge from Brazil and he is rated as among the best of his generation.

Coutinho has already been snapped up by one of Europe's elite as he is currently with Inter Milan.

Coutinho has long been tipped to be a star of the future since his early teens when he was quickly picked out by numerous scouts.

Blessed with wonderfully quick feet and majestic skill, Coutinho loves to cut inside from the flanks and if nothing else he is a crowd pleaser.

He is one of those players that when he picks up the ball, the crowd gets to their feet and is often not disappointed.

After witnessing his skills, Inter moved quickly to strike a £4million deal when he was just in 16, and as part of that they agreed to let him stay in Brazil for at least two seasons.

And Inter's decision to allow Coutinho to stay in South America to develop has proved a very astute one.

Coutinho emerged into a first-team regular in the season before his exit to Italy and it was his form for Vasco that persuaded Inter he was ready to make the switch.

He linked up with Inter last summer and was their only major signing, and not many expected him to see much action and indeed he was linked with a loan switch to other Italian clubs.

But Coutinho has not taken long to settle into life in Italy and is already a regular in the first-team.

He has found himself playing on the wing for Inter, which is no hardship as he loves taking on defenders, although he is perhaps guilty of one trick too often, which could be put down to youthful exuberance.

Many see Coutinho's long-term future in a Lionel Messi-type role as he is more than just a winger, given his excellent eye for a pass and vision to open up the opposition.

Coutinho's progress has also been rewarded with a call-up to the national side and in October he made his senior debut against Iran.

The Sky Sports Scout brings you a special feature as checks on the South American Youth Championship, which kicks off in Peru over the weekend.

The Under 20 tournament is widely regarded as one of the top youth events in world football and has seen many of the world's current top players make their mark for the first time on a big stage.

The tournament is of major importance and, as well as being a qualifier for the Fifa Under 20 World Cup later this year, it will also decide which South American countries get to play at the Olympics in London in 2012.

The tournament is made up of two groups of five, before a final league of six and we will take a look at each of the 10 countries taking part, and picking out who we think could be ready to shine.

ARGENTINA
Argentina go into the competition probably as favourites, and that is because they possess some wonderful young players at the moment.

Arguably their star turn will be River Plate striker Rogelio Funes Mori. Raised in America, he and his twin Ramiro progressed through the MLS system, signed by FC Dallas before both moved back to their native Argentina with River.

Despite being just 19 he is already a first-team regular and one of the most highly-regarded strikers in his country. Wonderful talent who should light up Peru.

Mori's likely strike partner will be Boca Juniors' highly-rated Sergio Araujo, who is also expected to come up big, whilst winger Michael Hoyos and defender Leonel Galeano, who already has a senior cap, are also being picked out as ones to watch over the next few weeks.

BOLIVIA
Bolivia come into the tournament having decided not to include arguably their best prospect at this level in the shape of Dynamo Kiev's Diego Suarez, who along with goalkeeper Romel Quinones, has been sidelined because of disciplinary issues.

Now the expectation levels will increase on their captain Alejandro Chumacero. The Strongest midfielder, who is being targeted by Major League Soccer, is expected to impress in Peru but he now has slightly more pressure on his shoulders given Suarez's absence.

Parma defender Jorge Toco should also highlight his talent during the tournament.

BRAZIL
Whilst Argentina may be favourites, the Samba nation are certainly bringing the one already world renowned star to the tournament as they have selected Santos' Neymar.

Neymar, who has already been capped twice by Brazil and has virtually every major club in Europe climbing over each other to seal his signature, will be leading Brazil's quest for glory, and well not much more can be said about him, but if you get a chance to watch any of this tournament make sure you catch this brilliant young forward.

Whilst Neymar will grab the headlines, there are a number of other Brazil players who will look to make an impact in Peru - although unfortunately injury has meant Inter Milan's Philippe Coutinho will not be involved.

Of the rest Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas looks a very fine talent, whilst Neymar's Santos team-mate Alan Patrick could also have a big tournament.

CHILE
Chile are very much focused on their next generation and big things could be expected from their prospective striking partnership of Mirko Opazo and Alvaro Ramos.

Central defender Pedro Salgado of Universidad Catolica is impressing many onlookers whilst Union Temuco midfielder Alejandro Marquez is expected to make an impact.

COLOMBIA
Colombia have one of South America's most talented Under 20 players in the shape of James Rodriguez - however, his club Porto have not allowed him to be included.

Atlas midfielder Michel Javier Ortega is now expected to be their leading light in Peru, and they hope he can provide the ammunition for highly-rated front-man Edwin Andres Cardona.

ECUADOR
Hopes are high in the Ecuador camp they can provide a few shocks in Peru, and they have some very interesting looking players available.

River Plate prospect Juan Cazares will be the creative force in their side and many are looking for him to be a possible leading light in Peru.

If Cazares can hit form, then they have two very talented young forwards in Gent's Edson Montano and Rubin Kazan's Walter Chala who could prove to be real threats.

Runners-up last time out in Venezuela, Paraguay are hoping they could go one better in Peru - although their chance will be hampered by the fact Toulouse striker Federico Santander will not be allowed to feature.

Many feel that Udinese starlet Miguel Medina could be their star turn.

The hosts obviously have the burden of expectation on their shoulders, but they should not be under-estimated as they have a couple of potential stars in their squad.

Inter Milan starlet Joazhino Arroe has looked like one of the best prospects in South America for a long time and he will get his chance to impress on home soil.

Whilst Arroe is the big name, Alianza Lima's Andre Carrillo is also a hugely talented striker who could come up big for the hosts.

Following the brilliant performance of the senior squad at the last World Cup, many will be keeping a close eye on Uruguay - and rightly so as they have some outstanding prospects.

They have been dealt a blow with the news that Lazio's Gonzalo Barreto is not available, but they have considerable depth.

Atletico Madrid's Leandro Cabreba and Genoa's Diego Polenta are the main focus on what could be the best defence on show in Peru.

Another Atletico impressive youngster Sebastian Gallegos will lead the line for a side that could be the one to watch in Peru.

Venezuela have not been able to include European based starlets Josmar Zambrano of Tenerife and Empoli's Franco Signorelli which is an issue and could hamper their performances in Peru.

Zulia duo Alexander Gonzalez and Yohandry Orozco look to be their biggest prospects, and European clubs are known to be keeping close tabs on both players.
