荷甲早已經在4月21就踢完聯賽34輪，之後就進入附加賽程。
附加賽規則如下：
第一名（PSV）直接進入下賽季歐冠小組賽。
第二，三，四，五名踢附加賽，勝者進入下賽季歐冠資格賽。
第六，七，八，九名踢附加賽，勝者踢Uefa Cup play-off。
第10～13名踢附加賽，勝者踢Intertoto Cup Play-off。
Groningen例行賽踢完後，排在第7名，要踢Uefa Cup席位附加賽。
先跟FC Utrecht踢完兩腿後，以總比分5-3（2-2，3-1）晉級下一輪，對手是擊敗了Roda JC的NEC。
與NEC的第二腿昨天剛踢完，Groningen以總比分2-3（1-0，1-3）被淘汰，無緣下賽季Uefa Cup。
我不很確定附加賽敗陣的球隊能不能繼續朝Intertoto Cup前進，
但看到上面那張照片，你就可以知道Mati的沮喪了。
畢竟這是他第一次離歐戰這麼接近.....
那，這場第二腿在家裡的比賽，Mati首發出場，可Groningen卻被灌了三球...
