Let the party roll to Bilbao
Van Nistelrooy and Sneijder rejoin the squad
The Bernabéu may still be recovering from last night's 2-0 victory over Partizan Belgrade, but the players are already back at work preparing for Saturday's showdown in San Mamés. While Wednesday's starters remained in the gym for recovery work, their teammates focused efforts on tactical aspects of the game. While Spain has shut down for a bank holiday, work at Valdebebas chugs on. With the final sprint of the year on the forefront, and matches against Athletic, Osasuna, Barcelona, Alicante (King's Cup), and Lazio (Champions League) yet to play, the Whites have no time to ease up on the gas. Last night's participants against Partizan Belgrade -Dudek, Salgado, Metzelder, Torres, Robben, Baptista, Drenthe, Higuaín, andSaviola- worked out in the gym and pool, and then had massages. Meanwhile, goalkeepers Iker Casillas and Jordi Codina trained alongside Pedro Jaro. The two took turns shooting on one another, proving they are just as capable of attacking as defending. Schuster demands speed After spending the first half hour indoors, the remainder of the squad -Van Nistelrooy, Robinho, Raúl, Sergio Ramos, Cannavaro, Gago, Marcelo, Guti, Soldado, Diarra, Pepe, Sneijder, and Balboa- made its way outside to the turf. Heinze is now the only player still recovering from injury, as Javier Balboa -left knee tendonitis- and Wesley Sneijder -strained right quadriceps- have both kicked their niggles to the curb and were very active in today's practice match, which Schuster used to work on pressuring and rapid ball advancement. Ruud Van Nistelrooy also appears to be in fine form. Heinze jogged with fitness expert José Luís San Martín as part of his recovery protocol. Team spirit can't be better, and all the hard work has been paying off in the best way possible. Everything is clicking, and tomorrow Real Madrid hold their last workout prior to the assault on San Mamés. NEXT TRAINING SESSION: Friday 7 December @ 11:00 at Valdebebas
