 MILAN - The Italian Football League has announced new dates for the two-legged Tim Cup final between Inter and Roma. The first leg at the Stadio Olimpico will take place on Wednesday 9 May, with the return leg at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Thursday 17 May.

来自曼图阿裁判员协会（Mantua refereeing section） 的马西米利亚诺-萨卡尼（Massimiliano Saccani）被指定为下周三晚在奥林匹克球场进行的意大利杯决赛首回合比赛的主裁判。在首都，两名助理裁判将是西莫内-皮伦迪尼（Simone Pirrondini）和乔尔乔-尼科莱（Giorgio Niccolai），第四官员将是克里斯蒂安-布里吉（Cristian Brighi）。

MILAN - Javier Zanetti spoke briefly to journalists after taking part in a conference to make young people aware of the dangers of doping:

Zanetti, on Wednesdy you have the Tim Cup final first leg against Roma. How much do you want to win it?
"A lot, because we want to win the Coppa Italia. We will be playing on level terms against a great team like Roma."

Why is the Tim Cup clash with Roma so important?
"Because we're looking to win this trophy, which is still prestigious. They will be two great finals."

It seems that the city rivalry with Milan is never-ending...
"It's a rivalry that has lasted forever, and it will always be there. But I don't understand why you always look to make comparisons. We're pleased because we have won the Scudetto, Milan are pleased because they have reached the Champions League final. We are all happy, so I don't see why we necessarily have to look for a stronger team. These things should be left to one side."

Will you be supporting Milan in the Champions League final? Do you have friends in the two teams?
"At Milan I know Seedorf, Simic, Grimi and many others, while at Liverpool there's my compatriot Mascherano. Like two years ago, it will be a difficult final for both sides. But as you can understand, it's impossible for me to support Milan. I will watch the match on television."

It looks like they are softening the argumentative tones surrounding Inter and Juventus. Can we hope for a calm fixture next year?
"Let's hope so. Juventus are a great club and a great team. Every match against them has been fascinating. We hope all the disputes stay off the pitch."

It seems as if Luis Figo has decided to leave Inter at the end of the season. Inter may need a playmaker. Any suggestions for the club?
"Firstly, I should say that I'm very sorry Luis is leaving. He's a great player, but foremost he's a great man and dressing room companion in every sense. Let's hope a player of his level will come in. A player I like in particular? There are many. If I have to choose one player just to reply to the question, I'll say I really like Messi. He's a compatriot who I know quite well, but I'm not the only one who likes him."

Any chance of Messi joining Inter?
"Not many, because I don't think Barcelona will let him go."

It has been reported that Gianluigi Buffon might join Inter in place of Julio Cesar. What do you think about this?
"I don't know, it depends on the club's plans. I can say that Julio Cesar is in excellent form and is having an excellent season, just like Toldo has done when he has been called into action. But these are things for the club to decide."

Roberto Mancini has always indicated you as a player with an exemplary attitude on and off the pitch. However, some say you had a difficult relationship with Mancini when he arrived at Inter. Is this true?
"I think that we had to get to know each other at the start of his Inter adventure. We have got to know and understand each other better over the years. We have even argued a few times, but this happens in every team, and the important thing is that we have always thought of the good of the team and tried to build something important. I have a wonderful relationship with Mancini and I have to thank him for all the faith he has had in me in his three years here. I hope to continue this adventure with all the staff for a long time because we are doing a great job."

Will you end you career at Inter?
"Yes. I will end my career at Inter. I have a contract until 2010 and I will honour it until the end."

FIFA seem to be looking to eliminate draws, and are studying new solutions like penalty shootouts to decide matches. What do you think about this?
"In this way matches will last forever... We need to have a good look at these things because it's not easy to change the rules from one moment to the next."

Has doing so well in the league increased your disappointment over the Champions League elimination, when you were knocked out without almost your entire first-choice midfield?
"We were disappointed about getting knocked out, but we have no regrets now. Our main target was to win the Scudetto and we won it. We'll try the Champions League again next season."

How do you see doping in Italian football?
"Badly, because unfortunately there have been many cases. I hope the number reduces and I hope positive information can be perceived correctly so doping can exist less and less."

ROME - Coppa Italia holders Inter face an uphill task in their quest to retain the trophy after losing the first leg of this year's final 6-2 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma ran rings around the Nerazzurri in the opening stages to storm into a three-goal lead by the 16th minute.

Their skipper Francesco Totti grabbed a shock first-minute opener, firing home from ten yards after controlling a Taddei right-wing cross.

Daniele De Rossi deflected in Philppe Mexes' volley from a corner to double Roma's lead shortly after.

And Simone Perrotta capped an extraordinary start by the Giallorossi just after the quarter-hour mark, sliding past Toldo from close-range after Chivu's through ball.

Inter, who came back from three goals down to beat Roma 4-3 in the Super Cup last August, reduced the arrears from a counter-attack in the 20th. Maicon raced down the right and fed Hernan Crespo who rounded Doni before slotting in from a tight angle.

Luis Figo could have added a second before the break, only to see his diagonal effort come crashing back off the post.

Inter looked to have stifled Roma's attacking momentum after the interval but ex-Nerazzurri full-back Panucci popped up in the box to power home a header from on-loan midfielder Pizarro in the 54th minute.

Roma's four-goal advantage was short-lived as Hernan Crespo headed in a Maicon right-wing cross after a defensive mistake by Cassetti.

But the Giallorossi scored a sixth with a minute left on the clock when Panucci stole in to fire past Toldo after the Inter keeper's parry from Totti's long-range free kick.

The defeat was Inter's first away from home after a run of 18 wins and 5 draws.

And the reverse in Roma brought to an end the Nerazzurri's unbeaten 28-match run in the cup.

But Inter are no strangers to comebacks, and Roberto Mancini will be looking to lead his team to a third consecutive Coppa Italia triumph - and his eleventh personal success in the competition - in next Thursday's return at the Meazza.

ROME - Javier Zanetti spoke on Inter Channel after the Tim Cup final first leg defeat to Roma. "What we could have done wrong in one season, we did wrong in just one game," Inter's captain said. "Let's not dramatise, we can't throw away this season just because of one very bad defeat."

MILAN - Inter beat Roma 2-1 in Thursday's Tim Cup final return leg at the Giuseppe Meazza but the Giallorossi lift the trophy for the first time since 1991 with an aggregate score of 7-4.

Argentine duo Hernan Crespo and Julio Cruz sparked a second-half comeback with two quick goals but Simone Perrotta scored in the final stages after the dismissal of Ivan Cordoba.

Inter needed four goals without conceding to retain their trophy, and could have gone into the break with a substantial lead.

After just four minutes Dejan Stankovic beat Doni with a delightful chip, only to see the ball bounce off the bar and behind for a goal kick.

The Serbian midfielder went close again minutes later with a thunderous drive from distance.

It was all Inter in the opening period and Mancini's men had a clear penalty claim waved away on 9 minutes when Ferrari and Panucci held back Stankovic to prevent a sure goal from Mariano Gonzalez'  cross.

Inter continued to dominate but lost Vieira to injury midway through the half, forcing Mancini to reshuffle his pack.

The Inter coach brought on Julio Cruz and reverted to a 4-4-2.

In-form Argentine forward Crespo, scorer of Inter's two goals in the first leg, forced a point-blank save from Doni with a bullet header from Gonzalez' cross.

Roma enjoyed more possession in the middle after Inter's tactical switch but rarely threatened the Inter goal, their only meaningful chances falling to Italian trio Totti, Aquilani and De Rossi from distance.

Crespo went close again with a cheeky backheeled effort on the turn, and Cordoba headed over a Figo corner before Inter had a second penalty claim turned down when Maicon was shoved off the ball by Aquilani.

In added time at the end of the first half Cruz bundled over the line Crespo's angled shot from the right, but the flag went up for offside.

There was no ruling out Crespo's opening goal five minutes after the interval. The Argentine met Maicon's pin-point cross from the right and sent a flicked header beyond the reach of Doni to make it seven goals in four games.

Inter snatched a quick second when Cruz fired through Doni's legs from a tight angle after receiving from Figo.

Fifteen minutes in, Roberto Mancini was 'sent off' by Morganti after protesting over a free kick.
