MORATTI: "PROUD TO BE INTERISTI"

MILAN - "The sorrow of being here without him, a perfect person, even in the role of president, who always respected Inter, its fans and its history; I would have liked to continue with him." With these words Massimo Moratti remembered Giacinto Facchetti before opening the F.C. Internazionale shareholders' meeting, during which the Nerazzurri's majority shareholder was reappointed president. Moratti announced that the Inter academy's Interello training facility will be renamed after Facchetti, adding that the return of Marco Tronchetti Provera to the club's board of directors is "a very welcome return; a devotion to the club and the Nerazzurri colours that are always alive in him." Based on continuity and the work done over the years, Massimo Moratti's project has a clear, simple and immediate goal: "To be an increasingly modern club, ready to face with pride and competent people the organisation of a centenary which must involve all the fans. A team and a coach, Roberto Mancini, who must now "continue on this path because the Italian championship is still very difficult, and I don't think it is easier than in other years just because Juventus aren't there. In a world in which everyone tried to find the easiest route, we didn't take any shortcuts. And we have found ourselves with a Scudetto that I believe we deserve. And we won it on the pitch, because if we really want to say it, we played on the pitch only. The others didn't." To the person who defined Inter's 14th Scudetto as 'illegitimate', Moratti replied: "That was said by someone who should be an expert on the subject. I think he was overcome by his passion so it was a gaffe on his part." And Milan's talk of a conspiracy? "I thought it was a clear penalty. But it's a fairly normal situation in football. It has also happened to us in the past, and they called it self-pity; and now it's happening to Milan. It's normal to complain when certain things happen, but I don't want to enter into the problems of others." Moratti remains focused on Inter, and the goals to reach: "We must always play our best and honour every competition, but the finishing posts are a long way off. Massimo Moratti is also proud of the team put together during the summer months: "We had to replace Veron and we decided to bet on a champion like Vieira. Maicon is strong and has a positive character," he said, before underlining the the importance of balancing the accounts when signing players, "and I'm thinking of Dacourt, who is always useful, and Crespo who returned on a loan deal." There have been the inevitable sacrifices, "the sale of Martins" and the reinforcement of a few fundamental roles " Grosso isn't that young, but he has a youthful physique and he can last a long time." Moratti also mentioned Brazilian pair Julio Cesar and Adriano: "They have said too many times that our goalkeepers are not strong, but it's the exact opposite, and Julio Cesar proved that on Sunday, and not just by saving a well-struck penalty.
