而Payton虽然老了，但破船还有三斤铁，他将给年轻的凯尔特人充入丰富的经验和领导能力，

5-year contract could net Allen $100.5 million

Contrary to published reports, the Sonics have no intention of trading Ray Allen, their leading scorer and co-captain, and are working on a deal that will keep him in Seattle through the 2009-10 season.

General manager Rick Sund began conversations with Allen's agents about a five-year contract extension that could pay the four-time All-Star shooting guard as much as $100.5 million.

The Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers restructured their week-old deal yesterday afternoon with the terms becoming more favorable for Boston, and Marcus Banks and Jumaine Jones trading places.

The central components of the transaction remain the same with the Celtics receiving Gary Payton, Rick Fox, a 2005 conditional first-round pick, and $2 million. In return, the Lakers now get Jones, Chris Mihm, and Chucky Atkins, with a 2005 second-round pick taken off the table.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal confirms that the Memphis Grizzlies have asked the Chicago Bulls about trading center Eddy Curry, but the part about Stromile Swift and Bonzi Wells being the two that the Grizzlies are offering in return is not.

According to a league source, three other teams have presented the Bulls with offers for Curry, and Bulls general manager John Paxson remains somewhat hesitant to move the Bulls' big man.

Memphis is still trying to land Golden State free agent Erick Dampier via a sign and trade, with Curry being their fall back plan. With Atlanta appearing to be the favorites to land Dampier's services after offering a six year - $50 million deal the Grizzlies may come up dry on both of their targets.

The Dallas Mavericks have agreed in principle to a trade that would send forwards Eduardo Najera and Christian Laettner, two future first-round picks and cash to the Golden State Warriors, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher on Tuesday.


In exchange, the Mavs would acquire Dampier, center Evan Eschmeyer and guard Dan Dickau from Golden State.
