Inter block Cruz departure Thursday 20 May, 2004
Inter have told striker Julio Cruz that he will be a part of their first team squad for the new season.
There were suggestions that the Argentine could be sold due to the stiff competition for places at the San Siro.
But his agent has confirmed that he will remain with the Nerazzurri after talks with President Giacinto Facchetti.
"We had a meeting with Facchetti on Monday and he told us that Julio would be staying," Gustavo Ghezzi told Radio Radio.
Cruz is by no means guaranteed first team football and the player himself understands the situation.
"Cruz’s objective is to play around 35-40 games out of a total of 70," added Ghezzi.
The former Feyenoord player was signed last summer from Bologna, to replace the Chelsea bound Hernan Crespo, and he made an immediate impact.
However, he featured less regularly after the club swooped for Parma youngster Adriano in January. Speculation had suggested that Cruz was a target for Tottenham.
