Diego Maradona has revealed his great pride at being asked to help promote the Olympic Games in Athens.
The Argentinian superstar, one of the best footballers ever to grace the game, has linked up with Logosport in order to undertake a number of activities around the globe but the association with the Olympics is a highlight for the former Napoli genius.
"I consider this to be one of the greatest honours I have ever received," enthused Maradona.
"I want to thank the Hellenic Republic and the administration of Thessaloniki for his invitation, which I am glad to accept."
Logosport's Eric Manasse is the man behind Maradona's rehabilitation in the public arena and is personally presenting the official invitation to the South American legend.
"We will travel to the Games with Diego and his family on August 11," Manasse told skysports.com.
"Diego will assist with an official function at the Olympics in Athens, particularly regarding the football event as he is keen to help the kids of Greece."
Manasse has revealed that this is one of many projects he is working on with the former World Cup winner, including a number of anti-drug events around the world.
