Perea and Falcao, stars of the presentation of the game against Millionario

The game will be held on Wednesday at 19:00 hours (local time) at the El Campin stadium

Clemente Villaverde, managing director of the club, along with Perea and Falcao represented Atletico in the presentation of the match to be played against Millonarios on Wednesday at 19:00 hours (local time) in Bogota. Nicholas Martin, Ambassador of Spain in Colombia, Felipe Gaitan, president of the Colombian club, and Pedro Franco, who plays for the home team, completed the line up gathered at the Hilton Hotel.

The Spanish diplomat was full of praise for the Atletico. Martin, referring to the last weeks UEFA Europa League victory, said: "Thanks for allowing so many Spanish people to enjoy." Meanwhile, Felipe Gaitan, president of Millonarios, also recalled in his speech the European title won by the Madrid team. "Congratulations on the UEFA Cup. It is important for Atletico and Colombia. Wednesday's game is a historic moment for Millonarios, Bogota and the country," he said.

Clemente Villaverde, managing director of Atletico Madrid was also generous with praise. "I want to thank the host for being so welcoming. It is a source of pride to be here today. For some time we have had links in Colombia. Perea is the foreigner who has played most games for our club and Facao is slowly making an important story for the club."

The managing director praised the Millonarios fans, who he described as "wonderful" and expressed his hope to live up to their level on the pitch on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Pedro Franco, a Columbian player, hander two Millonarios shirts to Perea and Falcao. For the local player, facing these two players is a "challenge".

The two Colombian players of Atletico were the focus of most of the questions from the media. Both were very excited by the prospect of playing for their club in their home country after a demanding season in Europe.

Despite winning a second consecutive Europa League and being named player of the final, Falcao did not lose his characteristic modesty. "I still have a lot to learn, improve and perfect," he said. The Atletico striker brushed rumors away, stating that he is "enjoying the moment he is living at Atletico”.

Atletico have arrived at the team hotel in Bogota

Atletico's first team landed at 16:40 hours (local time) at El Dorado airport in Bogota.  Simeone’s men stepped on Colombian soil after a flight of more than ten hours from the capital of Spain.

Surrounded by high expectations, the expedition rojiblanca thanked the affection of the Colombian fans at the airport and the hotel entrance concentration of the team. Falcao and Luis Perea were the most acclaimed in their home country.

Juan Manuel Santos: "The Argentinians have Messi and we have Falcao and Perea"

The Colombian president received the staff of the club in the House of Narona

The president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, and the first lady, Maria Clemencia Rodriguez received a representation from Atletico Madrid in Narona House, seat of the presidency of the republic on Wednesday afternoon.

Diego Simeone, Luis Perea, Radamel Falcao and Antonio Lopez attended the event on behalf of the squad. Enrique Cerezo, President, and Miguel Angel Gil, CEO, led the group and Santos gave several gifts, among which was a shirt signed by all players.

The Colombian president thanked the team for their presence in Colombia and flanked on either side by Perea and Falcao spared praise for his countrymen. "We have injected pride and optimism to see them scoring or defending. We feel very proud," he said.

The president disclosed that he followed the final of the UEFA Europa League from China and that the two goals obtained by Falcao filled him with pride. For Juan Manuel Santos two Colombian players of Atletico are a further example of the progress of their country abroad and indicated that "their example helps us, it opens the door."

The top political leader drew a parallel between Atletico Madrid and Colombia. "They're going in the right direction, forward. We thank you for being here," he said.

Even Santos, a comparative dared to express the importance football players in their country of origin. "The Argentinians have Messi and we have Falcao and Perea, he said.

The President greeted one by one the children of the Athletic Foundation who gathered at the event. A small representation of the 1,000 children that are already working with  the club in Colombia and closed the event with a family photo with the Spanish delegation that joined the Ambassador of Spain in Colombia, Nicholas Martin.

The club's project is to expanding their networks to support 10,000 children in the short term. For now, the family has established schools in places like Tauramena, Yopal, Aguazul, Monterrey, Hato Corozal, San Luis de Palenque, Chameza, Maní, Recetor, Sacamá, Nunchía, Villanueva, Paz de Ariporo, pore, Trinidad & Sabanalarga.

The surprise is Falcao!

The striker wanted to visit a group of children as a surprise in the hotel camp in Bogota

Radamel Falcao always has time for children. This past Wednesday a group entered the hotel camp in Bogota to be photographed with the UEFA Europa League trophy and the striker wanted to organise a surprise.

The number nine appeared in the room without warning, leaving the children in shock. Then he had time to take pictures with them. These images are as unforgettable.

Atletico won by 1-2 in 'El Campin' in the first match of the tour in Colombia. Falcao and Perea were starters for Simeone’s side. El Tigre also opened the scoring with a beautiful goal, home grown. Koke doubled the lead before Matías Urbano pulled one back as the home side went in search of a leveler. Atletico take the first win on tour of Colombia.

In the dictionary the tiger does not understand friendly. In the first three minutes on the turf of 'El Campin' the Colombian had already made clear he was taking it seriously.

Less than a minute was on the clock when Nelson Ramos was forced to pull out a hand to prevent the 0-1. With Falcao the man looking to do the damage. It was the first and last warning from the Tigre. As in Bucharest and Villarreal, Falcao would open the scoring. If in the Romanian capital on 9 minutes he showed his skill with his left foot against the submarine he scored with his head, on Wednesday it was an acrobatic shot that made it 0-1.

Millionaires reacted and put pressure on the Atletico goal guarded by Asenjo but the young goal keeper had little to do in the entire first half. Just a couple of easy take in the six yard box

At the break Juanfran and Adrian came on for Perea and Salvio, and not long after Pedro came on for Falcao with the strike receiving a warm reception from the Colombian public. El Tigre was grateful for the affection and applause.

After the break, Millionaires kept trying without success. Asenjo, was very safe, collecting everything and snuffing out the danager.  all the balls that found door. The rest, enough, they left the line without too much danger.

Diego and Mario soon came on and it wasn’t long after that when the visitor doubled their lead with Koke scorign at the back post. However, Millionaires were rewarded for their evenings work scoring the rebound of a penalty which had been initially saved by Asenjo.  Matthias Urban making it  1-2 in 'El Campin'.

Cali gives a warm welcome to Atletico Madrid

The 'Pascual Guerrero' will host the match against America de Cali on Saturday 19 at 16 hours local time

Cali is the location for Atletico Madrid in their second stop on the tour of Colombia. Simeone’s men arrived in the capital of Valle del Cauca to play their second friendly match against one of the most popular teams and in the country, America de Cali, where over 35,000 fans will watch the game in the Estadio Pascual Guerrero on Saturday 19th at 16.00 hours local time, on the occasion of the 85 anniversary of the club.

The Mechita is one of the teams with the most titles in the history of professional football in Colombia. This season playing for the first time ever, in the second division, but thier record is: 13 titles in the First category A, four-time finalist in the Copa Libertadores and America Cup winner in 1999.

Falcao and Perea are becoming the best hosts for their peers. The warmth and friendliness of the people never cease to amaze the rojiblancos and that has been no different in Cali, a city divided in two by the Cali River.
