Atletico Madrid is already in Bucharest, preparing for the decisive match on Wednesday against Athletic Bilbao in the third edition of the final of the Europa League. Atletico left Madrid Barajas Airport at 6pm with luggage full of hope and optimism and a single goal: to return to the capital of Spain with their second Europa League in the suitcase.

Enrique Cerezo, President, and Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, CEO, traveled with the group. In addition, other executives traveled such as Antonio Alonso, vice president of commercial, Lazaro Albarracin, vice president of social, Oscar Gil Marín, advisor and MiguelPerez  shareholder.

Gabi: "For many of us it is the biggest game of our careers"

Atletico Madrid trained for an hour before leaving Majadahonda for Bucharest

The youth players Pedro Martin, Oliver and David Gil trained with the first team

Atletico Madrid completed their final training session in the capital of Spain before departing at 17:00 bound for Bucharest. The Atletico players held a closed door session in which the media could only access the first 15 minutes, in which the team worked under the command of Oscar Ortega.

Pedro Martin from Athletic B, and Oliver Torres and David Gil, from Atletico Madrid Youth DH, trained with the first team, eight other players from the academy also participated in this session including Chema, Borja, David and Sebastian from Atletico C, and Muhasin, Juanjo, Glory and Moreno, Atletico Madrid Youth DH.

At the end of training the list of 22 players was announce which included all first team players and as well as Pedro Martin. The team will depart at 17:00 from Barajas airport bound for Bucharest, arriving at Baneasa airport at 21:30 (local time, one hour ahead of the peninsula).

Stark will referee the final in Bucharest

The German will be joined by the assistant referees Jan-Hendrik Salver and Mike Pickel

Wolfgang Stark will be responsible for the all Spanish final of the UEFA Champions League to be held on Wednesday 9 May in Bucharest. The German referee will have the help of countrymen  Jan-Hendrik Salver  and Mike Pickel on the lines. Stephane Lannoy will be the fourth official and Deniz Aytekin and Florian Meyer will act as additional assistants.

Stark has refereed in the Bundesliga since 1997 and has extensive international experience during the past 13 years which has led to 89 appearances in UEFA competitions. The German referee has overseen two games in this years UEFA Europa League. In both, the home team has won (Manchester City 4 – 0 Spoting and Porto 2 - Metalist 1)

Simeone: "There is no fatigue, just enthusiasm and a lot of people behind us in Madrid"

Atletico coach praised the efforts of his players since taking the bench of Atletico

Diego Simeone attended the media accompanied by Falcao and Adrian before running out on to the pitch of the National Arena in Bucharest to lead the preparatory session of his team ahead of the game. The Atletico players began training surrounded by large media attention. Journalists from around the world traveled to the scene of the final of the UEFA Europa League to see the evolution of the Ribera de Manzanares.

The Atletico coach was blunt in the press conference prior to the official team training."There is no fatigue, just enthusiasm and a lot of people in Madrid behind us," he said. Asked about a message to send to the fans in the pre-game, Diego Simeone was in favor of talking on the field. "I just want them to see the team," he said.

The recipe for winning the match on Thursday in Bucharest through is balance. "You have to play with excitement, enthusiasm and creativity of a kid, but with the experience of playing a final," summarised the Argentine. The former Atletico player appealed to the character as one of the keys to the game. "We need a team with personality," he said.

Asked about his relationship with Bielsa, coach of Atletico was, again, emphatically."I have nothing but admiration for Marcelo, but I’ve come to win the final," he said.
