"My daughter and this marriage are the most important goals in my life"
"After so much time, now is the time to enjoy myself, I’m incredibly moved. This is a special stage that I have dreamt
of. It’s the best goal in my life along with the birth of my daughter.”
Hernan Crespo and Alessia Andra Rossi had a church wedding on Saturday 11 June. More than 320 guests attended
the celebration which cost 350,000 dollars.
They met in Rome three years ago. Their daughter, Nicole Alessia, was born at the end of September last year. The couple
married in a civil ceremony on 16 May at the Municipal Council in Limido, Comasco, in Italy.
THE CEREMONY
The ceremony was held at a small church at the Instituto La Salle in Florida, Buenos Aires, where Crespo had studied as a
young boy.
Crespo was waiting at the church accompanied by his parents, Susana and Jorge Crespo, Alessia’s mother Rodika Streja,
his sister Paula and her family, and his nine-month-old daughter Nicole.
Most of the National Team was in Germany. Ariel Ortega and his wife, Lucho Gonzalez and his wife, Marcelo Gallardo, Mariano Gonzalez, Nelson Vivas, Javier Mascherano and his girlfriend, and Matias Almeyda and his wife were invited. Anibal
Fernandez, minister of the interior, was among the guests.
Alessia arrived in a champagne Rolls Royce at around 8pm, accompanied by Crespo’s agent, Fernando Hidalgo, who took
her down the aisle (Alessia’s father passed away some years ago). There were so many onlookers outside that Alessia had
to enter the church via a side entrance.
Alessia wore a Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress in ivory silk embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and carried a bouquet of
red roses. Crespo’s suit was also designed by Dolce & Gabbana.
The church was decorated with white and red roses. When the wedding march sounded and Hernan saw his wife enter, he
shed tears.
The ceremony finished around 9pm. The guests all headed for Tattershall, near the racecourse in Palermo, for the wedding
party.
Hernan and Alessia left for La Mansion in the Four Seasons Hotel, where they posed for photos.
En route to the hotel, Crespo asked the driver to go via Rosedal in Palermo - he wanted to show his wife the red-light
district in the city!
THE PARTY
The guests were greeted at Tattershall by Venetian-masked entertainers.
When Crespo and his wife arrived around 11pm, there was a joke announcement that the wedding was off. Willy Crook
played a live show.
The couple entered a red-carpet hallway decorated with coloured lights. As they arrived at the main table, there was a
fireworks display.
To mark the start of the celebration, screens lit up with a video of photos of the couple, a greeting by the couple to the
guests in Spanish and Italian, and a wedding song chosen by Crespo, "You’re Still the One", by Shania Twain. Then Sofia,
singer of the group "Session", sang live.
The wedding banquet by Cateli Catering included cheese fondue, prawns and chop suey, smoked trout, Roque Seller
oysters, salmon terrine, mashed spider crab meat on lemon, and chicken risotto with dried mushrooms.
The first course was a pair of clam and langoustine vol-au-vents on a bed of green salad, served with Luigi Bosca wines.
Entertainment continued after the first course with an orchestra of live violins playing the waltz amid a shower of red rose
petals. Then dancing with music played by DJ Alejandro Massey.
The second course followed, a ragout of marinated lamb, potato mille-feuille and fried polenta. Argentine singer Diego
Torres took to the stage and played his best songs for an hour and a half.
The dessert was a chocolate marquise with fruits of the forest and ice cream, and live music by Los Autenticos Decadentes
until the wedding cake came – a gigantic cake with small ribbons, small chains of gold and silver rosaries. The couple
toasted their parents and then all those present.
THE SURPRISE
The biggest surprise of the night was a tango show by Alessia and Hernan. The couple had only taken four days of
intensive dance classes. Hernan wore a black-and-white striped alpaca wool suit, a double-cuffed shirt with silver cufflinks,
a red scarf and handkerchief and heeled tango shoes. They danced "La Cumparsita" accompanied by Guillermo Fernandez
and his quintet.
While the guests went to the dessert table, there was a live jazz and blues performance, and the doors to a mini casino
with roulette, Black Jack and dice opened. There was no gambling although many guests tried to bet with money. The
winners won football t-shirts.
The atmosphere then changed and the Mari-Mari group performed a dance. Alessia wore a crown of fuschia feathers and a
blue-and-white Argentine National Team t-shirt that matched Hernan’s.
The guests were given a memento book of the wedding embossed in silver with the initials AH, a CD of the songs played at
the party and a family photo album of Hernan, Alessia and Nicole by Veronica Ruiz. The celebrations lasted until 9am
Sunday morning and the couple ended up having breakfast with their relatives, friends and organisers until 11am at the
Four Seasons Hotel, where Alessia and Hernan spent their first wedding night.
