Rocha slams Independiente
by Patricio Figueroa
Independiente goalkeeper Ariel Rocha has slammed the club for suspending him from the first-team squad, while accusing the club's board members of accepting bribes.
The custodian is involved in a contractual dispute with the Argentine club but Rocha says the club are demanding money from players for them appearing in the starting XI, as well as lining their own pockets to bring players to the club.
"I can't give any names but I know that some of the most important board members of Independiente ask for money from some players to get into the team and to come to the club," said Rocha.
"As I do not accept these conditions, they have separated me from the rest of the squad and I don't know when I will be able to play again.
"I have heard many times in the dressing room conversations about how much a board member received for bringing a player to the club.
"Instead of hearing things about our next rival, I am forced to listen to things like that."
The keeper refuted suggestions his comments were made to show his annoyance at being left out of the team.
"I am a moral person that wants the best for Independiente and that is why I think the correct moment to say it is now," he added.
"These things have always happened in football but not so much at Independiente.
"The club is bankrupt and that shows that they have got paid for some players. Instead of giving the money to Independiente they have stolen it."
