‘Anyone seen real Crespo?’

HERNAN CRESPO has told Chelsea’s worried fans they have so far seen
only his talentless twin brother.
The ??16.8million Argentine fluffed twice in front of goal during the
Champions League win in Prague.
He is not only embarrassed but worried that the Stamford Bridge faithful
might think they have been sold
a pup.
Crespo promised them he will share the goal load — starting at Wolves today.
He said: “It’s true that the club has seen only my useless twin brother so far
because my shooting in front of goal all depends on split-second timing and
I can’t pretend that I’ve got it right yet.
“That is why I missed those big, big chances in Prague —
but that won’t be the norm with me.
“I promise that when the talented twin of Hernan Crespo comes back
— and that will be soon — that I’ll score as many goals here as
I did with Lazio and Inter.”
That is a big promise because Crespo bagged 16 goals in 30 games
for Inter and then rifled in 44 in 67 games for Lazio. Crespo cannot believe
the absence of stress and aggression here.
He was used to rioting fans ripping up the training ground at Lazio when
they were unhappy with the team, or being pelted with fruit and cans when
things went sadly wrong at the San Siro.
And he beamed with pleasure when revealing the pep-talk he had from
Claudio Ranieri on his arrival at Chelsea.
He said: “It is beautiful here. Claudio Ranieri told me that this was the
time to start enjoying my football like I did when I was a 10-year-old boy
in the streets of the town in Argentina where I grew up.
“That was music to my ears because, in Italy, football is regarded as a precise
science when nothing should go wrong and footballers must play like machines.
“Here in England it is still a beautiful game. You live your life on and off the
pitch as if football was still a sport, not a duty. At first, after so many years in Italy,
I couldn’t believe what I was being told and I didn’t think it would come true at Chelsea.
“But now I have to believe it because I am living the dream.”
But Crespo is not here on holiday. He believes Chelsea have the squad,
skills and owner to win the Premiership and European Cup.
He said: “I know Mr Abramovich wants to change Chelsea into the
Real Madrid of England.
“Real win because they have great players and it is depressing for other
teams to turn up at the Bernabeu.
“And I know that the owner wants Chelsea to be this way too.
“We are not just a club — we are a multinational.”
