The coach believes that the expulsion of Gabi hurt the team

Diego Simeone lamented the equalising goal scored late on by Sociedad. The Argentine coach of Atletico highlighted the double booking of Gabi as the turning point. "The sending off hurt us and we couldn’t keep possession in the final 20 minutes," he summarized.

The technician did not complain about his players, who gave everything they had on the pitch. "The team is making a huge effort with incredible results. We can play better or worse, win or draw, as today, the match was heading for victory, but we did not have as many chances as usual," he said .

Simeone confirmed that the squad is sad for the last two results achieved in the league but warned they will continue working to meet the objectives. "We will continue fighting until it’s mathematically impossible," he sai d.

The Atletico players say they will keep pushing to finish in the Champions League positions until the end

Juanfran: "We will fight as long as possible, we will give everything to end up in the Champions League"

Juanfran and Adrian went through mixed zone to offer their impressions to the media after the game against Real Sociedad. For the club's website, Dominguez shared his opinions after the game (click here to see the interview in Spanish).

Juanfran Torres said after the game that "personally I felt better. I have a sore hamstring but after the treatment I feel better. The team tried to do the best. It was not an easy game, we have played a lot of games and clearly it has been a shock because we did not expect this draw. The sending off of Gabi has changed the game in the second half, because we were playing better until that momnet. Following the expulsion of Gabi we went back a little because we had to defend the result and we could not in the end.”

He was honest and said that "the team are thinking game by game. The other day I thought we would win in Sevilla and this time against Real Sociedad, but we have not been able to. We lacked that little biy of luck and we managed two draws which are no use to us."

The Atletico Madrid number 20 made it clear that it is not impossible to qualify for the Champions League. "For us there is still something to play for. We have had a long year, competing in matches, giving everything to achieve the objectives and we have reached the final of the Europa League and we’re going to give everything to reach the Champions League".

Adrian Lopez said after the game "We didn’t play like we’ve been doing at home of late. We struggled in the first half but we improved a bit in the second, the team took the lead against a team who defended well and it was a shame that we dropped two points in injury time.”

Diego Pablo Simeone prepared for the match against Malaga behind closed doors

Falcao trained alone and Pedro Martin, Oliver and Manquillo also trained

Atletico Madrid are preparing for the match against Malaga on Saturday 5 at 21:00 pm. The rojiblancos held a closed session on field 1 of the Sports City which lasted for about an hour. Falcao missed the session, as well as Perea, who continues his recovery with Oscar Pitillas. Pedro Martin, a regular in recent weeks in training with the first team also took part along with two other youth players Javi Manquillo Oliver Torres.


There were eight players from the youth who participated in the session, four from Atletico C (Borja, Sebas, David and Propín) and four from Atletico Junior DH (Prior, Muhasin, Buzzo and Glory).

Manuel Pellegrini: "I expect a very difficult Atletico Madrid"

"The team is aware of what is at stake"

Manuel Pellegrini, the Malaga manager, said in a press conference that "the team is aware of what is being played for. We know that we have two games and we intend to get as high as possible. It is always important to play in Europe, this is an opportunity to show the team's ability to win in any ground. I do not analyse the referees from the technical point of view and do not think the referees have an intention to harm either team.”

The technician commented on the season his team has had "we have never made or set an objective, and we will seize the opportunity of Champions League. We have no insurance, there are two games and we have to get the most points. I think that Atletico has had an additional effort, physically, but they’re still in with a shout, so I expect a very difficult Atletico.”

Antonio Lopez and Luis Perea, honored before the game against Malaga

Both players received a gold and diamond Club insignia

The last match of this league in the Vicente Calderon stadium against Malaga had a very special sense, not just the aspirations of the team. The Club wanted to honor two of the most emblematic players of recent years: Antonio Lopez and Luis Perea.

Both players have spent a long time within the entity of the Manzanares, so Atletico Madrid would like to thank them for their efforts during the years that they have worn the red and white shirt. Before the start of the game, the two captains received the insignia of gold and diamonds, the highest distinction at Atletico. Enrique Cerezo (President of the Atlético de Madrid) and Adelard Rodriguez (President of the Foundation and former Atletico Madrid player) were responsible for awarding the distinction.

The tribute took place on the pitch of the Vicente Calderon before the start of the meeting, allowing all the fans to show their love and appreciation to the two captains of the squad lead by Diego Pablo Simeone.

In addition, Adelard (footballer with more games played wearing the Atletico shirt) handed over a shirt to Perea, reminding him of the number of games the Colombian has played as red and white and "Being a foreign player who has played more games for the club Atletico Madrid deserves recognition. Perea has proven to be a very important part of this club and every game he has always tried to do his best, like Antonio Lopez.” he said.

Simeone: "The league is still open"

The Argentine coach pointed out Perea and Antonio Lopez as examples in the dressing room

Diego Simeone was very pleased with the work of his team after a 2-1 win against Malaga. The Argentine, acknowledged that "in the first half Malaga were the better side" because Atletico could not "solve the game between the lines they used. "However, he noticed a great improvement in the second half in which he said "we became stronger."

On the possibilities of making it to the Champions League, Simeone said that "no one can know the future" but that "the league is open." In any case, the technician wanted to put a reflection on the table. "In January, we would have taken what we’ve got now," he said.

The Argentine coach also commented on the tribute to Perea and Antonio Lopez. “It was beautiful. The best detail was the players' gesture when they raised their shirts after the goal. Pellegrini, 'I do not think it’s a fair result'

The Chilean coach hopes to keep his champions league position on the last day

Manuel Pellegrini lamented the effectiveness of Atletico in the press conference after the meeting. The Chilean coach said that his rival "did not create too many chances but scored two" at the end 2-1 did not seem "a fair result."

For Pellegrini, the were ‘two different games’. "We had a first half in which we could have secured the match with ease. Then we had a bad second half, where Atletico Madrid did did not create many chances, but unfortunately got two goals," he said.

Despite the defeat, Pellegrini wanted to maintain calm in the face of the last game of the season. "The table is as it should be. In the end, it will bedecided by a point or a goal. We play for the Champions League place at home to Sporting in front of our own fans. If we had won today we would have been there for sure. Earlier this season we would have taken going in to the last day in a Champions League spot playing in front of our own fans," he said.

Adrian: "We must fight to the end”

The Spaniard, who scored the second goal spoke of the team work that allowed the side to turn around the match against Malaga

Adrian scored the second goal for Atletico, which ultimately would be the winner. However, the Asturian striker wanted to focus on the efforts of all the squad over the individual contributions. "Teamwork is important. Today was a difficult game. We came back against a team like Malaga and the truth is that we are very happy," he said.

The Atletico 'seven' reflected on the importance of the win, allowing them to dream of fourth place. "We had said that the team would fight to the end. Today was the last chance. It was a very important game against Malaga. Now there is a chance to fight to the end," he said.

The Spaniard believes victory will give confidence to the squad for the final of the UEFA Europa League, which will be played this Wednesday in Bucharest. "It is important to qualify for the Champions League and the win also gives us a moral boost ahead of the final” he said.

Atletico never give up. After two hammer blows in the final minutes in league games against Betis and Real sociedad. Simeone's team showed their will to fight for any cause. Malaga went 0-1 up thanks to an unstoppable shot from Eliseu. Koke levelled the scores on the volley from a corner and Adrian put Atletico ahead to on a one-on-one with Kameni. The Spaniard ran to the bench and showed the shirts of Perea and Antonio Lopez, who were honored at the start of the meeting. It was the perfect finishing touch in a game that keeps alive the dream of seeing Atletico in the Champions League. Nexts stop, Bucharest.


After the tribute, the football began. Malaga came out better, and had the first chance with some of the Calderon supporters yet to settle in to their seat. Isco found space in the heart of the defence and after receiving a pinpoint pass found himself in on Courtois. Lucky that the long legs of the Belgian goalkeeper kept the ball away from his goal.

The game opened up and both teams had chances. First, Joaquin tested the keeper from the edge of the area, the Salvio tried his luck from distance. The Argentine didn’t hit the target on this occasion.
Falcao then came closest to opening the scoring. Played in by Adrian from the left, his right footed effort from just 6 yards out went agonisingly wide of Kameni’s goal.

The rain was beating down in the Spanish capital and it was the visitor who adapted best with Cazorla, Joaquin and Isco controlling play forcing Diego and Salvio in to more defensive roles, which affected the offensive side of the red and white’s game.

After 33 minutes, Courtois was again called in to action. A mix up between Tiago and Miranda lead to Isco playing in Rondon. The striker only had Courtois to beat, but his shot went just wide of the Belgians left hand post.

Onthe37th minute, Malaga goal came. A corner from the right was cleared to Eliseu who struck a thunderbolt of a shot that flew in to the top left hand corner, leaving the keeper with no chance.

Simeone’s men came out in the second half and after 10 minutes the chances began to come for the home side.

After 66 minutes, it was another corner that lead to a goal. This time Kameni punched clear to the edge of the area, where Koke was waiting to strike the ball first time, levelling the score and sending the Calderon faithful in to ecstasy.

Malaga looked to bounce back but Courtois rescued the team in a one on one Seba, Atletico took that as a sign to go for the victory, introducing Arda Diego who received an extraordinary ovation from the Calderon.  Not long after Adrian’s goal came. The Spaniard beat Kameni from the edge of the area and ran to the bench to show Perea and Antonio Lopez shirts to the crowd, dedicating the victory to them.

The goal and result moved Atletico up to fifth place just two points behind Malaga. The Andalusians come up against...

在5月6日凌晨进行的西甲第37轮联赛的比赛中，马德里竞技主场2-1逆转马拉加。艾利塞乌上半场世界波破门为马拉加取得领先，但下半场阔克和阿德里安的进球让马竞完成翻盘。马竞此战之后落后马拉加2分保留一线争4希望。

第4分钟，华金右路直传，伊斯科禁区内得球后单刀射门被库尔图瓦挡出，马拉加几乎先开记录。第8分钟，法尔考禁区内左路的搓射打在防守球员身上稍稍折射偏出目标。第11分钟，萨尔维奥左路带球内切后禁区外远射，皮球偏出目标。第27分钟，华金右路传中，隆东力压胡安弗兰头球攻门稍稍高出目标。
