Matuzalem, 27, joins Zaragoza on a three-year deal ahead of their UEFA Cup participation next season. The fee is understood to be in excess of a 12 million bid Shakhtar earlier rejected.

The goalscoring midfielder had spent three years in the Ukraine after joining from then-Serie A Brescia in 2004 in a national record 13 million euro deal.

He had previously played in Italy for Piacenza and Napoli, starting his career in his native Brazil at Vitoria Bahia.

Matuzalem is the seventh major signing of Zaragoza's summer following the arrivals of Roberto Ayala, Ricardo Oliveira, Javier Paredes, Gabriel Fernandez, Gustavo Nery and Francisco Pavon.

The blanquillos have already made contact with the Vicente Calderon side regarding the possible transfer of international defender Pablo Ibanez.

Victor Fernandez, the boss at Real Zaragoza, has his eye on Atletico Madrid's centre back Pablo Ibanez.

The defender, one of Spain's first choice players at the 2006 World Cup, had a mixed campaign last season, starting just 24 games as Atleti struggled at the back.

The rojiblancos could be tempted to part with the defender - for a fee, of course - as the blanquillos seek to further augment the centre back position. After losing Gaby Milito to Barca, the Zaragoza side signed Roberto Ayala from Villarreal, with whom the Argentine spent just two weeks.

Sergio Fernandez and Ayala, then, now comprise the default pairing, but after losing both Milito and on-loan Gerard Pique, coach Victor Fernandez clearly feels that Ibanez would offer the experience and pedigree required to create real competition at centre-back.

The coach has also been linked with Coloccini of Deportivo, but the A Coruna side insists that he is not for sale.

新浪体育讯　西甲这两天的球员转会市场很活跃，其中尤以萨拉戈萨为甚。周三晚上，萨拉戈萨官方宣布，巴西中场马图扎伦加盟签约三年。值得关注的是，马图扎伦是继德桑科蒂斯之后今夏第二位利用国际足联章程第17条规定，以自我买断方式加盟其他球队的球员，从另外一个方面讲，这笔转会萨拉戈萨并没花钱。

　　马图扎伦三年前被顿涅兹克矿工以1350万欧元从布雷西亚购进，本来萨拉戈萨跟顿涅兹克谈判好好的，首笔报价600万欧元距离乌克兰人的价位800万欧元也不远。但昨天，马图扎伦通过经纪人告知顿涅兹克俱乐部，自己决定买断合同，并向国际足联递交了报告，随后萨拉戈萨官方宣布其加盟。

Real Zaragoza striker Ricardo Oliveira is confident he can rediscover his scoring form on his return to Spain after a disappointing season with Serie A side AC Milan.

"I'll be doing my utmost to score goals and help the team have a great season," the 27-year-old Brazilian international told a news conference after completing a season-long loan move to the Primera Liga side.

"I hope next season will be as good as or even better than the campaign I had when I scored 22 goals for Betis," he said.

"I know it is a bold promise but I've got a lot of confidence in this team."

The former Valencia and Betis striker joined Milan for 17 million euros ($23.5 million) at the start of last season as a replacement for Andriy Shevchenko, but he failed to live up to expectation, scoring just three goals in 26 Serie A appearances for the club.

"It was a difficult year in Italy what with my sister getting kidnapped (in Brazil), but it is different now because I'm in a country where I feel happy and relaxed," he said.

Oliveira will team up with Argentina striker Diego Milito at Zaragoza who have qualified for next season's UEFA Cup.

The Primera Liga side have an option to sign Oliveira on a four-year deal at the end of the season.

Real Zaragoza are locked in talks with Real Betis over the future of Juanito despite the arrival of Roberto Fabián Ayala at la Romareda.

The Aragón-based outfit are still keen on securing the services of the uncompromising 31-year-old as they look to challenge on three fronts next term.

Juanito is Betis' captain, but Zaragoza's undisclosed bids maybe too good to turn down and negotiations have begun.

If the Andaliucians do opt to play hardball, then coach Víctor Fernández is ready to offer a player-plus-cash incentive to capture the player.

Zaragoza may face competition for Juanito's services as their bid has now alerted Deportivo La Coruña and they are said to have opened a line of communication with Betis.

Having sold Jorge Andrade to Juventus and with a fight to keep Fabricio Coloccini on their hands, the Galicians are keen to bring in a new central defender.

New coach, Miguel Ángel Lotina, has made bolstering the defence one of his key ambitions before the start of the season and Juanito's strength and leadership qualities have seen him move to the top of the wanted list.
