Van Goal is back
Miguel Torres and Ramos also make the list, but Sneijder left off
Injured players have slowly trickled back to Bernd Schuster's squad this week, one of them being Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who the German boss considers essential for Saturday's match against Betis. Miguel Torres will also travel to Seville, while Wesley Sneijder partially fractured the left side of his rib cage in training on Friday and is unfit for action.
Van Nistelrooy is healthy. The forward who missed last Sunday's dismantling of Valladolid has found his way back onto Bernd Schuster's squad list, this time for Saturday's match in Seville against Betis. Joining Van Nistelrooy on the trip will be Miguel Torres. The youth teamer suffered a minor tear during his appearance with Spain's Under-21 squad and spent all week training on his own, but he is as good as new and able to travel.
Several players are still waiting for the green light from Real Madrid's Medical Services, however. Pepe, Saviola, Robinho, and Heinze continue recovering from their respective injuries. Metzelder will soon begin rehab work after undergoing surgery to fix his left plantar fasciitis earlier this week. Sneijder is the latest setback for Schuster after partially fracturing the left side of his rib cage. Pepe and Saviola spent the week focused on their specific recovery protocols, while Robinho continued his medical treatment and physiotherapy for his torn abdominal muscle. Gabriel Heinze is closest to making a full comeback after training with the squad over the last few days, and all signs point to his return next week in Rome.
Today's training began with the usual fitness work and was followed by a game of keep away and ball exercises.
Sergio Ramos and Van Nistelrooy appear to have made full recoveries from their respective niggles and trained without incident.
