some interesting discussion
Seems this thread very popular. Adding some comment. Basile as a coach, he's not bad as you said. Go to have a watch of 94 world cup and its qualification games as well as 93 American Copa also. You will see the difference between these games, not exactly same style. The point is that Basile understand how to change and is able to change. The thing here is he wants to win Brazil with a traditional Argentina's style win, but failed - that's it, take it easy, brothers. But remember, 86's Argentina's team played much uglier compared with the current one, it's because of Maradona, they got the final win. So I would like to say, if you want to win, in soccer world, you should compromise one thing - don't put aesthetic thing at the first one, put win! It's like Basile did - they beat France. So if needed, Basile can do and will do anything.
Speaking of lineup, I would put a big body center forward here if I have. Put a little more focus on Gago's recent play in RM, you can see how fierce he becomes. European soccer needs such a style, he can but he needs a more strong body. I like Mascherano's defense, but he should understand how to pass - not only compete for the ball to give the ball to Roman - that's not enough and that's the problem for the current Argentina team. We don't have good center defense players and good lateral defense players for assistance on offense (except Javier), that's why if Argentina wants to get gold, they should learn how to defend and strike back - not beautiful control and shoot, otherwise it's only at a same level as Spain. Are they really better than Spain - if they only want to control ball? If someday they know how to fight, they will be much better. |
