MARSEILLE - Javier Zanetti analysed the Nerazzurri's 1-0 defeat away to Marseille in a post-match interview with Inter Channel.

"They waited for us in defence and didn't leave us any spaces. It was a very difficult match, I think Inter contained well but unfortunately this isn't enough," said the Inter captain.

"We should have tried to go through on goal more, but we were stunned by that goal we should have avoided. Also, we tried playing long balls forward, but this isn't our type of game."

The Nerazzurri survived a few scares at the Vélodrome and next week's return match is wide open. Zanetti added: "It's never easy at this level and it won't be at the San Siro either. Now we'll start preparing for the match against Perugia then we have the return leg of this match which will be fundamental."

Marseille will be without star player Drogba for the Uefa Cup quarter-final return match, and Zanetti knows its an advantage for the Nerazzurri. "He's their best player, he's an excellent striker who's capable of playing up front on his own. But we'll have to show we're capable of going on in this competition."

MILAN - "A great victory against a great team," said a delighted Javier Zanetti to Inter Channel about the Nerazzurri's 3-2 victory over Juventus .

But the Inter captain warned: "It's a prestigious victory and it's very important for the standings, but on Thursday we have another fundamental match. Now we must concentrate immediately on the match in Marseille."

On Sunday evening at the Meazza Inter showed what they are capable of doing with a near full-strength squad. Zanetti confirmed: "Yes, with all our players available we can do great things. But injuries are part of football and you need to evaluate everything during the course of an entire season."

"We suffered to get this victory but we needed it because it's these victories which are needed in certain situations," he said. MILAN - Inter were back to winning ways in Ancona on Sunday afternoon. Captain Javier Zanetti underlined the importance of the 2-0 victory in an interview with Inter Channel.

"It was about time," he said. "We've returned to winning and it was very important for us. Ancona showed they aren't a humble side, and Roma didn't get more than a point against them. Besides, there are no easy matches in the Italian championship."

The victory in Italy's Le Marche region puts the Nerazzurri back on track in the Serie A , and fourth place remains a realistic objective. Zanetti confirmed: "It's fundamental for us. We took a step forward yesterday, but there's still a long way to go."

With Ancona out of the way, it's time for the Uefa Cup . Zanetti: "The victory at Ancona allows us to prepare for the match with more serenity. It will be another very important match against Benfica."
