Dunga out to fill Kaka void

Whenever a team loses its star player, let alone one who is a perennial contender for FIFA World Player of the Year award, it is almost inevitable that they will struggle to fill his boots. But such are the myriad of options available to Brazil coach Dunga that he will approach today's final Group G encounter against Portugal with few worries, confident that his side will prove to be a match for any team in South Africa.
It goes without saying that Kaka is a vital cog in the all-conquering Brazilian machine. His last absence from the national team through injury was followed with intense interest throughout the South American nation, from the Brazilian Football Federation's technical committee to the millions of fans hoping to see their team lift their sixth FIFA World Cup™.

After a quiet start to the tournament, Brazil’s talisman came to life in the game against Côte d’Ivoire, showing that he has recovered fully from the groin injury that disrupted his domestic campaign with Spanish giants Real Madrid. His dismissal towards the end of the game, however, has given A Seleção the chance to show that they are much more than a one-man team.
Kaka himself is quick to state his unequivocal faith in his team-mates, who currently lead Group G with six points, two more than their forthcoming opponents. “We’re going to win against Portugal,” said the man who won the adidas Golden Ball at the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009.  
Dunga has at his disposal a variety of options as he searches for a replacement for the Real Madrid superstar. For their part, Portugal are well aware of Brazil's strength in depth.

“Brazil have got some very strong players,” said midfielder Tiago. “It is a shame that he can’t play but we’re not thinking about that. Either Julio Baptista will come in for him or another of their great players will be called on. Brazil have quality throughout their squad.”

In fact, Julio Baptista is the most logical choice to replace Kaka. The Roma player made a substitute appearance in his country’s recent friendly against Zimbabwe and seems to have done enough in recent training sessions to merit his chance. And, of course, who can forget his outstanding displays in the Copa America 2007, including a memorable performance against arch-rivals Argentina in the final.

But the player himself is happy to bide his time. “He plays in the same position as me, but I’m here to help and to wait for my chance. If the coach has to use me, I’m ready,” said Baptista, who is a great friend of Kaka’s, and has been since their days together in junior football with Sao Paulo.
Another option is to deploy Robinho in a deeper role and play Nilmar or Grafite up front, something which Dunga has already tried in the last few minutes of his side’s victory over Korea DPR. Robinho, currently on loan at Santos from English side Manchester City, sees some merit in the system. “When we play with three forwards, I’m the one who drops deeper to try to get on the ball and play other people in. So if we have to use that system, there’s no problem. Dunga can count on me wherever I play.”
For his part, Dunga, who may also have to do without Elano, as the midfielder recovers from a leg injury, is keeping his cards close to his chest, and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that midfielder Ramires or right-wingback Daniel Alves could play some part against Portugal.  

A silver lining
Kaka acknowledges that the Portugal game would have been an important step back towards full match-fitness. However, he refuses to be downbeat and is quick to see the positive side. “It’s a setback in terms of me getting back to full fitness, but it will give me a week before the next game so that I can do some strength work. I want to sharpen my fitness so that I’m ready for the knockout games.”
He is also well aware of the potential benefits that his absence may have in bringing the Brazil squad closer together. “I think I can be a good example for the others in terms of showing that I’m willing to work hard," he said. "I can help them by giving them advice and also through my attitude. The fact that I’m not playing will be a great motivation for whoever takes my place in the team, and I hope that they play well and enjoy good fortune because the game against Portugal will be tough.”

In such a high-profile game between the countries ranked first and third on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, luck may well be the decisive factor. But Kaka has a warning for his team-mates, who, he says, cannot afford to rely on fortune alone. “We want to top the group and even though we know we only need a draw, a win is really important to give us momentum going into the last 16,” he concluded.

　　新浪体育讯　南非当地时间27日晚，在阿根廷与墨西哥比赛现场足球城体育场的休息室，记者见到了南非国家队主教练、巴西名帅佩雷拉。未能带领南非队在小组中出线，南非媒体也在热炒他税后180万美金的年薪，但是饱受争议的巴西人并未显得心情不佳。

　　我们从下午英格兰与德国队的比赛说起。谈到这场比赛，佩雷拉说：“我们看到了一场精彩的比赛，当然，在这场精彩的比赛过程中，出现了一些争议。从慢镜头我们看到英格兰的进球的确过了门线，但我观察到当时的主裁判和助理裁判的位置，都距离门线比较远，你不可能要求他们的速度和球飞行的速度一样快，所以既然比赛结果已经是这样了，那我们只有接受，这是足球的一部分。”

　　谈到德国队的表现，巴西人说：“德国队是一支年轻的队伍，他们中有一些很出色的年轻人，技术和意识都很出色。他们取得这场胜利，没有任何的争议。即使是一个有争议的判罚，但是后半程的表现说明了他们的实力更胜一筹。德国队应该有希望走得更远，当然要看他们接下来和阿根廷比赛的结果。”

　　南非队虽然遗憾出局，正好给了佩雷拉一个更好观看其余比赛的机会。关于在阿根廷与墨西哥比赛中再次出现的裁判误判的问题，巴西人不愿意多谈。“刚才我已经说过了，这是足球的一部分。我们在电视里可以很清楚看到的东西，你在场上也许就不能看清楚，这很正常，我不会也不可能评价裁判什么。”佩雷拉说：“但是阿根廷队的表现让人惊叹，他们是目前我见到的这届杯赛中进攻最好的。马拉多纳手中有梅西和特维斯、伊瓜因三个前场的活跃分子，你很难想象他们在一起会创造出什么。”

　　谈到接下来巴西与智利的比赛，佩雷拉说：“这场比赛我觉得也不会有太大的问题，巴西队目前状况不错，他们和智利队相互之间也比较熟悉，我相信他们会赢得比赛。但你知道，足球这东西，胜负谁又能预测呢？”

　　目前的局面相对比较清楚，在上半区，巴西队要面临荷兰队的一个挑战，如果能够跨过这关，无论是乌拉圭还是加纳，巴西进入决赛的机会都很大。在下半区，阿根廷如果能够顺利跨越德国 ，还需要面临西班牙或者葡萄牙的挑战，也是硬仗。但从目前各队的表现来看，佩雷拉认为南美双雄聚首决赛的可能性比较大。“我们从一开赛就看到了欧洲球队的表现不是很好，这里面有很多原因。南非球队，特别是巴西和阿根廷，目前都表现出很好的状态，我看好这两支球队进入决赛。”

Brazil forced to take patient approach

Up against a well-drilled Korea DPR side in their opening game in Group G at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, Brazil found themselves faced with a problem that also dogged them during South American qualifying: how to break down a team that defends deep and in numbers.
The North Koreans were able to nullify A Seleção for large sections of that opener by denying the likes of Robinho, Kaka, Elano and Maicon the space to launch their clinical counter-attacks, forcing them instead to patiently probe for chinks in the opposition armour. Nor has that narrow 2-1 victory been a one-off, with Dunga’s men having to cope with similarly stifling tactics in the 3-1 success against Côte d’Ivoire and particularly the 0-0 stalemate with Portugal.
“Portugal made life very difficult for us,” Sevilla hitman Luis Fabiano told FIFA.com after the goalless tussle in Durban which rounded off Group G. “We were hoping for our opponents to play a different style of football, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. There’ll be more difficult games to come from now on and we’re going to have to learn to deal with this situation, because I don’t think many teams are going to want to go toe-to-toe with Brazil.”
Killer instinct
Despite the paucity of openings so far, Luis Fabiano was still able to tuck away two goals in the win over the Ivorians to open his account at South Africa 2010. But speaking before the final round of games in Group H, the section set that would provide the five-time world champions' Round of 16 opponents, the No9 said that “whether we play Chile or Switzerland the same thing will happen – they’ll park the bus in front of their goal”.
Though the words of someone clearly frustrated by the lack of chances coming his way so far, the former Porto and Sao Paulo goalgetter’s statement did not do justice to Chile’s pacy and enterprising displays so far. Indeed, if the Swiss relied on a mainly defensive approach, coach Marcelo Bielsa’s energetic La Roja have attacked their opponents throughout and will be hoping to make Luis Fabiano eat humble pie in the countries’ last 16 clash on 28 June.
Patient approach the key
Since Dunga took the reins in 2006, victories at the 2007 Copa America, the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and top spot in South American Zone qualifying for South Africa were all secured on the back of rapier-like counter-attacking. Nor have lightning-fast breaks been totally absent from these finals, with Robinho’s driving run and defence-splitting diagonal ball for Elano’s first-time finish for the second goal against Korea DPR a perfect example.
In the eyes of Brazil’s USA 1994-winning captain, the strategy for unlocking watertight backlines has been to encourage accurate passing, plenty of intelligent movement to lose markers and the patience not to panic should a goal not arrive straightaway. “Football nowadays is built on speed and technique,” said Dunga after the Portugal game. “When you find space you need to make the most of it, but unfortunately in Friday’s game that wasn’t possible. Controlling possession has always been one of the hallmarks of Brazilian teams. We need to hold onto the ball and tire out our opponents.”
That may be easier said than done against a super-fit Chile side at Johannesburg’s Ellis Park Stadium on Monday, in what promises to be a fascinating encounter.

For certain footballing nations, simply winning a game is not enough for their demanding supporters. Take Brazil and the Netherlands, for example, whose legendary sides at the 1970 and 1974 finals, respectively, played beautiful football that subsequent generations have struggled to match.
When two such nations meet, one might expect an open, expansive encounter, but that is not what many are predicting for 2 July’s clash in Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth at the quarter-final stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Quite the contrary in fact, for both Dunga and Bert van Marwijk’s charges have been favouring a more cagey counter-attacking style so far, a tactic which suits their solid backlines and quick, skilful front-runners.
The numbers back up the supremos’ choice of strategy though, with the five-time world champions winning three and drawing one of their four games here at South Africa 2010 and the two-time finalists boasting a 100 per cent record. Even though A Verde e Amarelo have scored eight goals to the Elftal’s seven, with both having conceded just twice, calls for their national teams to play more vibrant, attacking football have been frequent and vocal in the two countries’ media.
“Of the European sides, the Netherlands are perhaps most similar to us South Americans in terms of technical ability,” said Dunga on the speed and quality that the likes of Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder can bring to bear. “They traditionally produce teams that play nice football. They’re not a team that just defends or one that plays a long-ball game. They’ve got very technical players and we need to be ready for that.”
The mutual love-in continued with Van Marwijk, who chose to highlight the current Brazil team’s steely defence. “Brazil have six really impressive defensive players and attackers who are capable of making a difference at any moment. They’re a solid side,” said the former Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund boss.
Who will blink first?
With both teams happy for their opponents to take the initiative, thus leaving spaces behind to exploit on the break, is there a danger Friday’s proceedings will bear more resemblance to chess than the beautiful game? “We need to carefully study the Netherlands’ previous matches, but I’m sure that they’re a team that will try and play football,” said Brazil No10 Kaka in the wake of a textbook counter-punching display by A Seleção in the 3-0 Round of 16 win over Chile.
“I’m not sure whether they’ll really go for it against us, but they will try and play football,” added the Real Madrid star, with Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano echoing his countryman’s views: “From what I’ve seen, the Netherlands are quite attacking and have players who are good going forward. I think that they’ll try and take the game to us, so we’ll have to be careful because they’re very dangerous. That said, any team that tries to attack Brazil are playing with fire.”
Van Marwijk has an idea of what to expect come Friday. “We’ve controlled the play in all our games so far; we’ve scored seven goals and only conceded two and we’ve hardly been in any danger. But I think that’s going to change when we meet Brazil.”
Whatever happens, with the likes of Robben, Robinho, Kaka, Sneijder, Fabiano and Robin van Persie involved, and given both teams’ sparkling recent form, the Port Elizabeth Stadium is certain to play host to a fascinating encounter.

Brazil inflict more misery on Chile


Brazil completed a hat-trick of victories over Chile at the FIFA World Cup™ by beating their South American rivals 3-0 to set up a mouthwatering quarter-final meeting with the Netherlands.
Dunga's side took control of the Round of 16 contest with two goals in quick succession in the last ten minutes of the first half through Juan and Luis Fabiano. Robinho added the third to inflict further punishment on the Chileans who may have ended a 48-year wait for a FIFA World Cup win in South Africa but evidently have not worked out how to better their old nemesis.
Brazil defeated Chile in the 1962 semi-finals and at this same stage of the 1998 tournament in France, scoring four goals in each game. They also beat La Roja home and away in qualifying for South Africa and even in the goalless opening 33 minutes at Ellis Park, there was scant evidence of a different outcome. Although Chile, playing in all white, had a larger share of possession in the opening quarter-hour, Brazil carried the greater goal threat from the off.
Luis Fabiano had an early sniff of goal when breaking down the inside-right channel in the fifth minute but dragged his shot past the far post. Four minutes later Gilberto Silva drew a full-length stop from Chile custodian Claudio Bravo with a 25-yard strike and from the ensuing corner, Kaka – back from suspension – had a sight of goal but fired wide. There was another nervous moment in the Chilean penalty box when Lucio took a dramatic tumble under Pablo Contreras's challenge and it came as no surprise when Brazil made the breakthrough in the 34th minute as Juan rose high to bury a header high past Bravo from Maicon's flag-kick.

Four minutes later Dunga's men had their second as Luis Fabiano got on to the end of a slick counter-attack to hit his third goal of the finals. Robinho surged down the left and slipped the ball infield to Kaka, who split Chile's central defence with a first-time pass to put Luis Fabiano in the clear. With Chileans appealing in vain for offside, the Sevilla marksman rounded Bravo and slotted home. Chile produced only one or two promising moments in the final third in the opening 45 minutes. And when Humberto Suazo, making his second start of the finals, had a sight of goal, he failed to trouble Julio Cesar with his shot from the edge of the box – their only effort on target before the break.

Marcelo Bielsa's side had begun the match showing four changes from the defeat by Spain, three enforced by the suspensions of Marco Estrada, Gary Medel and Waldo Ponce. And they began the second half with two more changes as Bielsa sent on Rodrigo Tello and Jorge Valvidia in place of Contreras and Mark Gonzalez. But though they tried to increase the pressure on Brazil's back line, their own defence was breached again just before the hour. Ramires strode forward from midfield, leaving two white shirts in his wake, and played in Robinho to curl a shot past the left hand of Bravo. It was Robinho's eighth goal in six matches against Chile and he came close to adding another with a low shot that Bravo tipped behind.
At the other end some of Chile's approach play was slick and they began belatedly to create chances. Valvidia flicked up the ball on the edge of the box and lifted a shot narrowly over the crossbar. With 15 minutes remaining Suazo then produced a smart turn to escape the shackles of Lucio but his shot was comfortably dealt with by Julio Cesar. He got even closer with a sliced effort that looped on to the top of the crossbar but it was not to be. Brazil march on.

No coach has taken part in more FIFA World Cup™ finals than Carlos Alberto Parreira. Now 67, the Bafana Bafana boss has just chalked up his sixth finals appearance atSouth Africa 2010 and remains as enthusiastic about the competition as he has always been.
Speaking exclusively to FIFA.com, the veteran Brazilian coach talks about his tenure with South Africa, the legacy he hopes to leave behind and the satisfaction he derives from seeing technically gifted players in action.
FIFA.com: Carlos, what is your view of the FIFA World Cup so far?
Carlos Alberto Parreira: Life’s a funny thing, you know. I wasn’t the only one who thought we’d never see another World Cup like Germany 2006 again. The Germans are perfectionists when it comes to technology, organisation, structure and professionalism and the feeling was that the event was so perfect we’d never see another one like it. Now we’ve got the World Cup here in Africa, and to everyone’s surprise the stadiums, training grounds, hotels and even the weather have been great. Everything has come together and it's been a fantastic tournament so far.
And what about the football you have seen?
The technical standard has been high and that’s because we’ve put an emphasis on quality and technique. Unlike athletics, swimming and other sports, football is a game where skill and technique are especially important. Strength and speed are necessary too but they’re not fundamental. If they were, then you’d just have runners and powerful athletes playing the game. After all, players need to be able to master technical aspects. As a South American it’s great to see how things have been going here. There’s only been one defeat so far, for Chile against Spain [Chile later lost to Brazil] and they only went down 2-1 after having a man sent off. South American teams are dominating, and they’re doing so with their technique and quality, which is what people want to see.
Ghana are the only African side left in the competition. What are their chances of winning the title?
Ghana did well at the last World Cup. They beat Czech Republic, who were one of the favourites, in a fantastic match and then they lost 3-0 to Brazil. But that was a really tough game for them. They’re an experienced and well-organised side now, with a coach who knows them well, and they’ve also brought in some of the U-20 World Cup-winning team. I think they’ve got what it takes to produce some more big performances.
A lot of people have been saying that the spirit in the Brazil camp is the same as it was in 1994. Would you agree?
I’ve got a few friends in A Seleção and they’re all telling me that the atmosphere is really good, and that’s essential. If it was just a question of quality, then we wouldn’t have gone 24 years without winning the title or reaching a Final. The mood in the squad looks really good and that’s obviously an important first step for the team. It makes everything else easier. The quality, history and weight of the jersey are already there and the team is technically accomplished too. There’s no doubt they’re one of the best sides in the competition.
How did you find the experience of coaching the host nation?
It was very different to the others, which is one of the things that attracted me to the job in the first place. When I came in people were critical of my salary but it’s not that high when you compare it to the best-paid jobs in football. I dealt with that in my first press conference here though. I said I hadn’t come for the money. I’m not a millionaire but I’m a man of independent means and I saw coaching the host nation as a challenge. I had to go back to Brazil after 18 months for personal reasons. Then Joel came in and I thought there’d be no way back for me. They had a good Confederations Cup and everything looked fine until they started having problems in the friendlies. There were a few things that a national coach always finds hard to deal with and they lost nine games in a row. That’s when they came out to Brazil and invited me back. I accepted their offer and I haven’t regretted it. You can see how football brings the country together and I’ve had a warm welcome back. I think I’ve worked hard and that’s how the whole ‘Make Us Proud’ thing started. That’s what people were saying to me in the street and it sounded good to me, so I started using it in interviews and the thing just built up from there.
How would you assess South Africa’s performance in the competition?
We know the football’s not strong enough here for us to become world champions and we don’t have enough players in the top leagues. That said, the team put on a good show and the people are very happy with them. We gave a good account of ourselves. We started well against Mexico, we finished strongly against France and the Uruguay game was a tough one. Overall, it was a positive experience. We’ve laid foundations for the future and in the 15 games since I returned last November we’ve lost just that one match to the Uruguayans. It would have been perfect to go through, of course, but we did well and I hope it helps lift the standard of the game here in South Africa.
What is your message for the game here? What is the next step they need to take?
The PSL is very strong and well-organised and there’s money there, but it doesn’t help that there are no youth leagues. You can’t make progress without them. Youngsters are the way forward, and it would be a good idea to invest in this. In Brazil we have a talent factory that runs 24 hours a day, shift after shift, and that’s our greatest strength. I’ve also put in my report that it might be a good idea to consider reducing the number of foreign players at clubs. There are a lot of them, five at each club, and if they want to stand out, then maybe it would be better to have a maximum of two only.
What is your future in the game?
I’ve already had offers from clubs and a couple of national teams in Africa and Asia. I don’t want to do anything right now though. I won’t be doing anything on the pitch until December. I have a few lectures and courses to do but nothing day-to-day and nothing that’ll stop me spending weekends with my family.

　　马凯在荷甲出道，曾经效力过西甲拉科鲁尼亚、德甲拜仁，职业生涯末年有重新回到荷甲，而这三个国家又都正好都进入了世界杯八强，“荷兰非常轻松的进入了四分之一决赛，此前的比赛中他们没有遇到任何麻烦，当然这支荷兰队还能踢的更好。至于德国，他们完全配得上挺进四分之一决赛，他们踢得非常漂亮，淘汰英格兰已经证明了一切，但是他们现在要面对阿根廷，阿根廷是我见过的最好的球队。西班牙也是一支伟大的球队，首场和瑞士的比赛他们运气不太好，但他们非常有潜能，在我看来他们是夺冠的热门之一。”

　　新浪体育讯　北京时间6月30日消息，巴西队中场主力埃拉诺脚踝伤势严重，他将缺席本周五巴西队与荷兰队的1/4决赛，巴西队队医何塞-路易斯今天对外确认了这一消息。

　　埃拉诺是在巴西队小组赛与科特迪瓦队的比赛中受的伤，此后的两场比赛巴西队0比0战平葡萄牙，3比0淘汰智利队，埃拉诺都没有出场。效力于巴萨的边后卫阿尔维斯顶替了他的位置。

　　本报南非专电(记者孙永军)代表巴西队出战5场即跻身世界杯主力阵容，巴斯托斯可谓一飞冲天，但伴随巴斯托斯的争议一直存在。据巴西媒体爆料，巴斯托斯因表现不佳被队友孤立。
　　巴西媒体报道称，感觉自己被孤立的巴斯托斯有些不满。对此，吉尔伯托用外交辞令化解危机：“巴西队从来没有故意孤立过谁，不会为一名球员而损害另一个。对朝鲜和科特迪瓦，巴斯托斯的左路打得有声有色，他的积极性有目共睹。”

　　世界上只有两支足球队能在球衣上绣五颗星，一支是中国队，一支是巴西队。中国队来自国旗，巴西队则是五次世界冠军。从战后的贝利时代开始，巴西足球便一直是每一届世界杯当之无愧的夺冠热门。
　　邓加执教的这支巴西队，又一次让人们看到了他们夺冠的可能。从1990年以来，巴西一路保持隔届夺冠的规律，而2010年他们正是从2006年的谷底往上走。邓加的球队实用而谨慎，让人几乎看不到击败他们的可能。
　　同样是在1/8决赛中轻松晋级，同样是严密防守让对方无从下手，荷兰却比巴西显得更加脆弱。在领先之后，斯洛伐克还能连续在荷兰防线上制造威胁，而巴西却没有给智利人任何威胁球门的机会。这支球队让人想起1994年邓加担任队长的巴西，虽然充斥着能踢出艺术足球的进攻球员，但却毫不激进；虽然防守至上，但却有全攻全守的影子，莱昂纳多和尤尔津霍担任的左右边卫的助攻让他们势不可当，罗马里奥和贝贝托的锋线组合同样灵巧十足。

　　【难度】那场比赛巴西打平即可出线，但他们却克制不住进攻欲望，同时也估算必须获胜才能出线的意大利人会打对攻，没想到被打了个措手不及。不过，邓加执教的巴西却是典型的老虎不出洞。
　　1982年的巴西队被称为“历史上最华丽的一支巴西队”。不过，超强的个人能力却给这支球队最终的落败埋下伏笔，他们在比赛中总是随心所欲，比如喜欢在中后场也用各种脚法来进行横传。这些不好的习惯正是后来意大利的快速反击得以奏效的原因之一。
　　那场比赛也是意大利足球的百年经典。当时罗西刚结束1979年的假球案禁赛，在世界杯前复出，用人不疑的贝阿尔佐特仍将其招进国家队，这才有了“一个人击败一支巴西”的奇迹。不过，意大利的胜利并不是建立在个人英雄主义上，他们的混凝土防守彼时正值巅峰，因盯防马拉多纳一举成名的意大利后卫詹蒂莱本场很好地“照顾”了巴西中场核心济科：第13分钟，他对济科的凶狠铲球吃到黄牌，第41分钟，济科突入禁区，詹蒂莱将他拉倒，但主裁判没有判罚点球，他甚至对济科已经被扯破的球衣视若无睹。
　　1990年世界杯，阿根廷同样摆出死守态势，再由马拉多纳在反击中助攻卡尼吉亚单刀破门，完成对巴西的经典绝杀。若没有英雄侠客拔刀相助，要击倒邓加目前的这支巴西队非常难。塞萨尔、卢西奥、胡安、麦孔和巴斯托斯组成的后防已经稳固非常，梅洛和吉尔伯托·席尔瓦的保护也让对手很难获得射门机会。不过，巴西接下来面对的对手荷兰也已经得到功利足球的秘诀，完全颠覆了过去全攻全守的传统，改为一副龟守姿态，将进攻重担交给范佩西、斯内德和罗本，这三人都有超强的传射能力。
　　所谓古有罗西，今有罗本，他们都是罗家人。在罗本利用突破打进斯洛伐克一球之后便成为第一个“罗宾汉”候选，“小飞侠”伤愈复出之后找回状态最可贵，而他在右边路面对的巴斯托斯是巴西后防相对经验最弱的一个。热身赛上面对世界排名第108名的坦桑尼亚，巴斯托斯就被对方后卫多次突破，他这一侧一直没有受到太大的考验，他能否抵挡得住世界强队的冲击，这个问题还需时间考验。
　　B点球杀 拖进点球决战

　　【难度】巴西拥有塞萨尔，但荷兰、乌拉圭和加纳都没有能在点球战阻挡巴西的门神。
　　1986年的这场比赛是后世公认世界上最伟大的一场艺术足球表演，由巴西中场三名艺术家苏格拉底、济科和法尔考对阵法国“铁三角”普拉蒂尼、蒂加纳和吉雷瑟。
　　两队相遇之前，这一届世界杯也发生了诡异的门线进球误判。在巴西击败西班牙的第一场小组赛，米歇尔射出的皮球击中横梁后落到门线之后，但主裁判没有判罚有效，媒体惊呼这是丑闻，坊间风传要保巴西和东道主走得更远。
　　不过，巴西就此证明了自己是“清白的”。有伤在身的济科直到第71分钟才替补登场，但他登场第一脚触球就妙传布兰科突入禁区，巴茨出击犯规，点球！济科亲自主罚，却将球射到巴茨手里。普拉蒂尼走过来拍拍济科的肩膀，不知道是感激还是英雄相惜。
　　随后济科在点球决战中将球罚进，但他一定还在回想90分钟内的那个点球。法国人运气不错，贝罗尼的点球踢在立柱上，但却弹在扑过来的巴西门将奥斯卡身上弹进了球门，裁判示意进球有效。塞萨尔随后射偏，使法国得以在点球大战中以4比3获胜。
　　贝尔萨已经证明敢死队式的冲锋不能击垮巴西，只有像葡萄牙人那样麻痹巴西人的神经，默契将比赛拖到点球决战，寄希望巴西人自己出错，才有可能苟且偷生。以巴西和荷兰的稳妥打法，这一场1/4决赛很可能是本届世界杯最功利的一场沉闷比赛，让我们静待点球吧！但荷兰人必定心理发怵，1998年在法国，巴西队便是在120分钟内与荷兰战成1比1平，并在点球中4比2击败他们进入决赛。
　　C大热杀 让博彩看好巴西
　　【范本】1990年、1998年、2006年，巴西都是在拥有梦幻阵容的情况下出局，大热必死的概念也在桑巴王国身上多次应验。
　　【难度】一直充当“巴西狙击手”的法国队本届赛事低迷出局，巴西人似乎找不到对手了。
　　1990年，巴西是博彩公司认定的夺冠热门，但很多人并不知道球队本身危机重重。不少球员受到伤病困扰，比如济科、法尔考、塞雷佐等。球队内部气氛也有问题，高绍因为无视球队的宵禁时间被开除，他的弗拉门戈队友莱昂德斯对于这样的决定很难理解，因此没和球队一起出现在机场前往墨西哥。
　　1998年的世界杯决赛，巴西队热得一塌糊涂，结果决赛0比3输给了法国队。2006年，“四重奏”巴西在淘汰赛首轮完胜加纳之后夺冠呼声走高，但却在8强战不敌法国。卡洛斯因为系鞋带没有防守亨利，导致对方进球。这成为世界杯历史上的疑案之一。由于有记者揭发巴西与加纳一战是假球，巴西输给法国的比赛也被认为可能是人为操纵的“大热必死”。
　　在巴西大胜智利后，夺冠赔率立即下调，前一天还与阿根廷并列榜首的桑巴军团，如今则独自占据夺冠赔率榜首。从1990年开始，巴西队总能隔届夺冠。1990年，巴西队止步于16强；1994年，他们点球击败意大利夺得冠军；1998，他们在决赛中惨败给了法国；2002年，桑巴军团击败德国夺冠；2006年，他们在8强决战中输给法国队。2010年的冠军很大可能是巴西，这样的曲线趋势也很容易让人上当。

　　巴西被“毒药”陷害的事情不止一回。除了1998年世界杯的罗纳尔多疑案，1990年世界杯1/4决赛他们也疑似被阿根廷人用“蒙汗药”设计陷害。当时，巴西球员布兰科毫无防备地喝下了阿根廷队医送来的饮料，结果导致状态全失，巴西队最终失利。十多年后，马拉多纳才揭开秘密：“布兰科果真喝了Royphnol(一种能让身体失去平衡与协调的镇定剂)，然后就成了傻子，连球都不会带了。”
　　为防止“蒙汗药”事件再度上演，最近这些年，巴西队但凡到阿根廷比赛，都自带饮用水，不使用阿根廷方面提供的饮料。现在巴西人已经对对手的“化学武器”有所提防，因此要在食物和饮水上设置陷阱难上加难。
　　再者，邓加的球队并没有绝对核心。即便毒倒了卡卡或者罗比尼奥，埃拉诺、拉米雷斯和巴普蒂斯塔最近几场的表现也说明他们完全能填补空缺。巴西的对手只有进行大规模袭击，让巴西队发生2006年热刺队在赛前10个球员集体食物中毒的状况，才有可能从根本上摧毁其实力。
　　E必杀技 跟布拉特套近乎

　　【难度】虽然外界已经为巴西设计好2014年本土夺冠的故事情节，但谁能预料到那时候会发生什么呢？这能拿来和布拉特做交易吗？
　　本届世界杯的冤假错判层出不穷，这不但让裁判成为焦点人物，国际足联背后的黑幕交易也是热点话题。有传闻阿根廷足协主席格隆多纳和国际足联主席布拉特是一个利益小集团，但不要忘记巴西足协主席特谢拉过去一直是坚定的“挺布派”。
　　2014年世界杯将在巴西举行，为了制造在本土夺冠的美好前景，巴西必须在南非出让一些人品和利益。本届世界杯，阿根廷上下一心要夺冠，志气很高但也刻意保持低调；西班牙要圆世界杯之梦但底气不足。不过这两队都在下半区，能够阻止巴西进入决赛的，不是荷兰便有可能是加纳。
　　作为非洲硕果仅存的8强球队，加纳肩负的是为非洲争光的重担。一路走来，裁判一直在照顾非洲黑星。如果能击败乌拉圭进入半决赛，谁说加纳就不能讨还2006年的债呢？
　　视角：看巴荷如何拔河？
　　以前大家都说巴西和荷兰都是什么攻势足球或全攻全守，而现在又都说这俩踢的是防守反击了。足球似乎可以被这么简化为两类，难道巴荷之战就将演化为防守反击大比拼？这么说未免有些扯淡吧。
　　只能说巴荷反击速度和能力都十分恐怖，但两队的打法迥然有别，并且，假如邓加都算保守的话，那范马尔维克简直就是腐朽了。我的意思是范马尔维克确实相当保守——— 荷兰队似乎从来没这么保守功利实用，但我们应该给邓加平反了，他的战术一点不保守，因此巴荷之战绝对不是同一风格打法的较量，我们不要表错情。
　　到底保守与否，为何要保守？
　　该攻的时候不管是谁，不管是哪个位置的球员，只要有机可乘，就坚决攻，时常雷霆万钧乃至万箭齐发，这是巴西，看上去大有全攻全守遗风，但全攻全守战术不再属于荷兰，不是范马尔维克天生就腐朽犯贱，而是他从范巴斯滕那儿已吸取了惨痛教训——— 荷兰队天才辈出，但球员个人能力很不平均，后卫线青黄不接，范德萨退出后防守就更没谱，荷兰真的没有投入更多兵力的本钱。
　　试比较一下：麦孔和巴斯托斯保持了颇为惊人的助攻数据，其威力已经接近“双卡”时代，而以往在巴萨以助攻著称，并且两年前欧洲杯竟然还在反击中攻入过头球的范布隆克霍斯特，现在如果全场保持下底传中零纪录也完全不奇怪，他已失去往返冲刺的能力，右边卫范德维尔位置感差，首鼠两端小心翼翼也不敢压上；在后腰位置上，也难以想象德容敢像拉米雷斯那样带球直捣黄龙；前腰位置斯内德对防守的投入远多于卡卡；最典型的是库伊特，罗本复出后，被挤掉的果然是范德法特而不是伟大的跑步机库伊特。

　　邓加实在拥有一条无敌防线(包括门将)和一个恐怖的攻击三角组合，这使他的球队只需快速通过中场就总可以搞定一切，这就是为什么他不需要小罗来延缓速度把问题复杂化。佩莱格里尼最羡慕的应该就是邓加，他的进攻思路和邓加完全一致，可惜他也没有一条像巴西队那么可靠的防线，等穆里尼奥把麦孔买来，再买一个左后卫巴尔加斯或巴斯托斯，然后以佩佩和拉莫斯为中卫组合，皇马就会跟巴西队神似。

　　摧枯拉朽般拿下智利队，巴西队王气逼人。继与科特迪瓦的比赛后，“卡卡-法比亚诺”组合再度光芒万丈。卡卡的助攻为法比亚诺插上了进球的翅膀，打入3球的法比亚诺成为本届世界杯金靴奖的大热，卡卡也凭借3次助攻，与托马斯·穆勒并肩领跑世界杯助攻榜。
　　谈到与卡卡的配合，法比亚诺用“完美组合”形容，“我不知道是否卡卡在场上时我发挥得更好，但我知道我们真的是完美组合。总是他刚准备出球，我就已跑到一个位置上等待接球。这是长时间配合后才有的默契。”
　　法比亚诺比赛开始阶段曾浪费了一次机会，队友阿尔维斯的传球，法比亚诺在点球点附近将球打飞。“这是比赛中的第一次机会，很遗憾我没有把握住。”终于等到卡卡的妙传，这次法比亚诺没有再留下遗憾。两人都被换下场后还在替补席上相互开玩笑，关系十分融洽。
