１９７０年４月２８日出生在阿根廷首都布宜诺斯艾利斯。身高１米７７，体重７０公斤。
１９８７-１９９０年，他效力于阿根廷萨斯菲尔德队，并代表该队首次参加甲级联赛。后转会至意大利的比萨队，代表比萨队参加了３１场甲级联赛，攻入４球。
１９９２-１９９４年，效力于西班牙的皇家贝蒂斯队，参赛６４场攻入２２球。１９９４-１９９６年，效力西班牙马德里竞技队期间，参赛加６６场、攻入１８球。

Diego Pablo nació el 28 de abril de 1970 en Capital Federal y es el segundo de los hijos y el único varón que tuvo el matrimonio conformado por Carlos (comerciante) y Nilda (ama de casa) Simeone. Antes que él esta su hermana Natalia y luego la más pequeña Carla. Todos juntos, además de la abuela Gracia, vivían en una casa en el barrio porteño de Palermo.
En julio de 1992 conoce a Carolina Paula Baldini en la casa de una amiga en común. ¿Quién es Carolina? Carolina, esposa del Cholo, es hija de Daniel y Nora, fue modelo publicitaria de la Agencia Unique durante dos años y ahora se dedica full time a sus tres hijos. Le gusta mucho la moda, tiene como preferidos a los estilistas Versace y Dolce & Gabbana. Además es una apasionada de Madrid, su ciudad preferida. Mantiene un bajo perfil, pero no se molesta cuando la prensa requiere una foto suya o algunas palabras sobre su marido.
Al mediodía del jueves 21 de julio de 1994 firmaron el acta que los declaraba como marido y mujer por lo civil en una sencilla ceremonia en el Registro de Belgrano. Al día siguiente fue la ceremonia religiosa en la iglesia del Santísimo Sacramento ( la misma en la que se casaron entre otros Diego Maradona & Claudia Villafañe, Fernando Redondo & Natalia Solari y Valeria Maza & Ale Gravier). Carolina vistió un diseño traído desde España y Diego un esmoquin. La fiesta fue en el Roof Garden del hotel Alvear y contó con la presencia de más de 250 invitados (los más importantes fueron los Batistuta, los Goycochea y los Maradona). La luna de miel fue Costa del Sol, Marbella.
El 15 de diciembre de ese año Carolina festejo su cumpleaños con la noticia de su embarazo. La pareja esperaba un bebe. El primogénito, que peso 3,130 kg, llegó el miércoles 5 de julio de 1995 a las 10.28 de la mañana en la Maternidad Suizo Argentina. La curiosidad es que La señora de Simeone entro a la sala de partos acompañada por su madre, ya que el Cholo estaba en Uruguay jugando la Copa América. Diego conoció a Giovanni Pablo unos días después gracias a que los corresponsales del diario Clarín le mostraron una foto del nene y de su mamá por una computadora portátil. Los recientes papás se instalaron en su departamento del Barrio del Pilar en Madrid.
Gianluca, el segundo heredero, nació a las 13.23 del jueves 23 de julio de 1998 pesando 3,600 Kg, en la misma clínica que su hermano. Como fue una cesárea, Diego no pudo verlo enseguida, pero si lo tuvo con el durante 20 minutos. Los cuatro volaron un mes después a Milán, donde los esperaba su espectacular piso (con parque exterior incluido) en el Barrio San Ciro.
Roma fue el lugar donde Carolina dio a luz a Giuliano de 3.200 kilos. El miércoles 18 de diciembre de 2002 a las 9.30 de la mañana la familia Simeone sumo un nuevo integrante. La criatura es el primer hijo de la pareja que vino al mundo fuera de la Argentina, ya que tanto Giovanni Pablo como Gianluca son porteños. En su casa del Country Golf La Olgiata los esperaban los padres y hermanas de Diego.
